We want to know how children see the world, what questions they ask, how they learn, and how they can be better supported in their development. We are interested in how educators can communicate with children in a cognitively stimulating way, how quality in early education can be measured, how children’s right to participate in day-to-day daycare can be implemented and much more.

Then we can invite you directly to new courses – online or to us on campus. You will receive detailed information on the topic and how it is carried out so that you can decide whether you would like to participate in this study and make an appointment. You can let us know if you no longer wish to receive invitations.

Why should you support us?

By participating in our studies, you support application-related basic research in the field of child development and its transfer into educational practice.
We assure you that our studies are planned and implemented according to high research-ethical standards. Our surveys are carried out exclusively by specially trained employees and students.

Who can join?

Every child, possibly their parents and pedagogical specialist, can participate in our studies and every daycare centre can cooperate with us. For daycare centres: not the entire team and not all children need to participate. The prerequisite for participation in each study is their informed consent or that of the parents for their child.

Where and how can I take part in a study?

Our studies take place in public institutions, in daycare centres and schools, in our laboratories at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and on the Golm university campus, as well as online. You can participate in our online studies from your computer or tablet, regardless of location.
You can register for our studies by email or via our contact form or participate directly online via a link. Before you taking part in any study, you will receive detailed information on the subject and how it is carried out so that you can decide at any time whether you would like to participate in this study.

How do I find out about the results?

If you like, we will inform you about the results of our studies and our publications with our newsletter about once a year (please lets us know kitaforschung(at)fh-potsdam.de). We invite cooperating daycare centres and their teams to workshops and specialist days where the study results of PINA are presented and discussed. All information on publications and events of the working group can also be found on this website.
